McIntosh College joins UNH in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Dover, NH - (January 25, 2008) McIntosh College participated in a photo art exhibit of refugee families at the University of New Hampshire in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 24th.

The week-long celebration began on the 24th and is being held in the Memorial Union Building at UNH. The exhibit showcases student photographs and artwork from the professional photography program at McIntosh College, UNH and the New Hampshire Art Institute. McIntosh Atlantic Culinary Academy (MACA) provided food for the opening of the event held on the 24th at 6:00 pm.

McIntosh College professional photography students Steve DiMarsco and Gail Roberts both exhibited photos they shot of refugee families. “I am honored to join together with other institutions of New Hampshire in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr.,” student Gail Roberts said, “We were able to bring light to the distress these families experience as a community in a creative way.”

The students participating in the event have been interviewed by Chronicle on their work with the six refugee families involved in the exhibit. This segment aired on January 16, 2008. This is McIntosh College's second year of participation.

In 2006, McIntosh entered into an articulation agreement with New Hampshire's Plymouth State University (PSU) in which course credit can be transferred to PSU for Graphic Design and Criminal Justice. McIntosh College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC).
