World renowned chef Marcel Biró to visit Mcintosh College

DOVER — Noted International Chef Marcel Biró will be visiting McIntosh College on Aug. 14, 15, and 16. In addition to working closing with the College's culinary faculty and students the College will be hosting events open to the community through the college's Atlantic Culinary Academy. These events will be posted on their website at www.mcintoshcollege.edu/events.asp.

McIntosh College and the seacoast community. Chef Biró's culinary and business experience promises to be interesting and insightful for our students and instructors, as well as for the larger community," said Jim Gallivan, Executive Chef & Director of Education at McIntosh College.

One of the youngest chefs in European history to achieve the title Master Chef de Cuisine, Biró is acclaimed for winning several coveted European awards, for his accomplishments in Michelin -starred restaurants, and for his dedication to demystifying classic cuisine.

Marcel was born in the former East Germany in 1973. He began cooking with his chef/restaurateur father at the age of six and entered culinary school and the kitchens of the Deutsche Demokratische Republik, (DDR, or Communist East German Party) at the age of 15.

Biró is star of the Emmy Award-winning, national PBS reality-cooking series The Kitchens of Biró ; co-author of Biró: European-Inspired Cuisine (Gibbs Smith, May 2005), the forthcoming Ó: SpanAsian Cuisine by Marcel Biró , and the forthcoming Marcel Biró's New German Cuisine ; and chef/owner of the renowned Biró and Ó restaurant concepts and Marcel Biró Culinary Schools.

McIntosh President Michael Hoyle noted, "Chef Biró has been the focus of innumerable television, radio, and print features throughout North America and Europe, including on NPR and in The Wall Street Journal , Smart Money Magazine , and TV Guide .

He has worked in leading restaurants in Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Spain, and Austria, and has opened restaurants for clients in 34 states and 13 countries.
