McIntosh College has announced that Chefs Cynthia Flahardy, CCP, and Brian Coffey, CEC, AAC have joined the faculty of the Atlantic Culinary Academy as adjunct instructors.
Jim Gallivan, Executive Chef and Director of Education, said, "Both Cynthia and Brian bring with them unique characteristics and culinary styles that will add value to the education our students receive. Both are committed to building upon our intensive curriculum and enhancing our students’ experience here at McIntosh."
Cynthia Flahardy, CCP has extensive experience in food preparation, professional catering, and culinary consulting. She was classically trained at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, and studied under Master Pastry Chef Steve James at the Balsams Grand Resort Hotel. Her career has included chef positions at the historic Exeter Inn and Conference Center in Exeter, NH; Professional Chef-Instructor at her alma mater; Culinary Director and Executive Chef for a European cooking equipment importer; and chef consultant to Wine Sisters USA. Chef Flahardy is currently chef and owner of Your Personal Chef…and More, a personal chef service in Newburyport, MA.
Brian Coffey, CEC, AAC has over 30 years experience in the food service industry with 22 years in management. He has owned and operated several restaurants, and has managed large hotel kitchens. His articles have been published in several newspapers and culinary trade magazines, and he has received several awards for hot foods and ice carving competitions. He was nominated for National Chef of the Year in 1999, and won the New Hampshire Chapter Chef of the Year Medal in 1995. Chef Coffey serves on the Board of Directors for the Balsams Culinary School at the Balsams Grand Resort Hotel, and is a past board member of the New Hampshire Restaurant and Lodging Association.
