The Office of Residential Life serves students living on campus by facilitating their adjustment to college life. An attentive staff of resident assistants provides personal counseling as well as guidance and support residential students may need to make their academic and extracurricular pursuits at McIntosh College successful.
McIntosh College residential life provides a safe, secure, and rewarding place for you to reside during your stay here at McIntosh College. Our professional and student staff are at your service 24 hours per day to ensure your complete satisfaction. Our residents live within a community that provides a unique opportunity to make lasting friendships, study, and learn with other students and to develop as an individual. Our diverse community helps to prepare our residents to be successful in their chosen career fields.
Some amenities you’ll find within our community include air conditioning, private bathrooms, individual mailboxes, and a meal plan. Our on-campus dining will allow you more free time, so you can study for exams, sleep in just a little bit longer, or socialize with friends as we shop, cook, and do the dishes. The meal plan offers a variety of meal options satisfying varied personal tastes and individual schedules. Housing restrictions are outlined on the McIntosh College housing application.
McIntosh College residential life offers programming (recreational, social, and educational) to promote positive out-of-class activities and involvement for housing residents through two channels. First, the resident assistants are required to extend social and educational programming to residents monthly.
Well-attended events have included:
- Quarterly “Movie and a Makeover” nights
- Monthly birthday parties for residents celebrating in that month
- Super Bowl, NBA Finals, and World Series parties, complete with extra TVs, surround-sound systems, and free refreshments
- “Breaking the Silence” sexual-assault awareness event
- “Dancing with Darkness” dangers of drug-use awareness event
- “The Best Years of Your Life?” alcohol use and abuse awareness event
- Monthly movie nights
- Ongoing diversity awareness in “Faces from Different Places” campaign — showcased at Residential Life Lobby area
- Bocce and Volleyball tournaments
Second, the Residential Life Activities Committee plans and hosts social and recreational programming to residents. Events have included:
- Six Flags amusement park trips
- Ice-skating parties
- Wax hands keepsakes events
- Black History Month awareness events (with Diversity Club)
- Hispanic celebrations (with Diversity Club)
- Halloween parties
- Holiday parties
- End-of-quarter parties
- “Game Night” every other Thursday with tournaments and DJ music
- Flag football, Wiffle Ball, and other recreational tournaments
